Corpus Christi-Holy Rosary is accredited by AdvancEd and serves children from Pre-K3 through Grade 8. Our UPK program is offered through the City of Portchester.
Our curriculum is based on the Standards of the State of New York and on the Archdiocese of New York. Gospel values and Catholic practice are infused in every aspect of the child’s experience. As a Catholic school, faith is an essential part of our identity. Religion is not only a subject for us, but also taught as a way of life. We pray every morning, and before and after lunch each day. We emphasize love and kindness in every daily situation and we make sure that the children understand the real reason we celebrate holidays. (For example, at Christmas, we make sure that the children know we are celebrating because it is Jesus's birthday).
Our K through 8 program is both rigorous and nurturing, dedicated to the instruction of students with different learning styles and different academic abilities.
Our students in grades K through 5 learn in self-contained classrooms, and our middle school students in grades 6-8 rotate according to subject. Each classroom builds upon a unified, vertically integrated curriculum that fluidly integrates Common Core Curriculum standards.
Students use technology daily (laptops, desktops, interactive whiteboards, and iPads), to reinforce skills and master academic standards. Students in grades 5 through 8 also use technology to fulfill our requirement of proficiency in a foreign language through the Rosetta Stone program.
After school enrichment programs and remediation are available to further assist students. Teachers work diligently and with great love in order to ensure that all children are accompanied and encourage them so that each child can succeed to his or her highest potential.
In addition to the core subjects – Religion, ELA, Math, Social Studies, and Science – the students also participate in enrichment classes including: Physical Education, Art, Music, Computer Science, and Library. Students in grades 6-8 are further challenged by hands-on science labs and language labs. This deeper intellectual exploration prepares students to actively participate in high school and the global community.
Corpus Christi-Holy Rosary School students use and develop their gifts and talents not only in the classroom but also in after school activities such as band, glee club, choir, reading and arts programs. Students stage two annual Christmas shows and a spring Talent Show.
