Corpus Christi Holy Rosary serves children
from PreK 3 through Grade 8. Three
programs educate students under the same
roof: Early Childhood (PreK K),
Elementary (Grade 1 5) and Middle School
(Grades 6 8). Curriculum is based on the
Standards of the State of New York and on
the Archdiocese of New York. Gospel values
and Catholic practice guide our program and
are infused in every aspect of the childs
experience.
The Early Childhood Program
is a full day for Ages 3, 4 and
Kindergarten.
Children learn
in a happy, fun manner by means of small and
large group instruction focusing on
Readiness Skills. Children are exposed
daily to activities in Language, Math, Arts
and Crafts, in Science and Nature, Fine and
Gross Motor Skills Development, Role
playing, Sensorial skills, Story time,
Music, Community/Social Studies, Outdoor and
Indoor Physical Education, Creative
Movement/Games. Teachers assist the children
in their social and emotional development
and help them to be independent and
self-reliant.
By the end of
Kindergarten or sooner, our children are
able to read.
Students in
Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten have
weekly instruction of Physical Education in
our gymnasium, Computer Technology in our
Computer Lab, Reading in the Cassone
Library, and Music.
Teachers
provide motivating opportunities. Lessons
are developed thematically. Teachers
continually assess learning and growth.
Our curriculum
is further enhanced by our religious
instruction. Early Childhood students
access the Atrium, a special place of
learning and drawing near to God. Children
participate in School Masses in Corpus
Christi Church.
Students make
full use of our spacious facility. They
enjoy spaces designated exclusively for them
and a developmentally appropriate playground
space.
Elementary School
students are self contained, allowing for
stability and for integration of reading,
writing, math and content area skills. The
Reading and Language Arts Program builds
upon a phonetic approach. Mathematic skills
are built sequentially using a hands-on
approach with emphasis on reasoning and
problem solving.
Technology is integrated throughout the
program, making use of a fully equipped and
updated computer lab, classroom SMART
Boards, and internet access in all
classrooms. Students make use of their
keyboarding skills, business and
instructional desktop applications to
process their knowledge and to express their
understanding of content area
topics.
